Dubai to welcome the world once again for World Cup swimming

August 25, 2011, Dubai –  World class swimming will return to Dubai in October as some of the planet’s finest athletes converge on the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Sports Complex for the FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup 2011.

The Dubai competition, which will take place on October 7-8, will be the first of the seven-leg World Cup series, which then sees the action moving on to Stockholm, Moscow, Berlin, Singapore, Beijing and Tokyo.

Al Jasmi looks forward to wowing home crowd

September 18, 2011, Dubai –  UAE swimming star, Obaid Al Jasmi, is relishing the prospect of competing in an international event in front of a home crowd once again in just under a month.

South African swimming sensation back in Dubai for FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup

September 29, 2011, Dubai – Organisers of the FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup have announced that South Africa’s Chad le Clos will be among the participants taking part in the October 7-8 event.

The talented teenager collected gold in Dubai at last year’s FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) after powering his way to victory in the 200m butterfly. That performance came soon after Le Clos bagged two golds, a silver and a bronze medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, as well as a five-medal haul, including gold, at the Youth Olympics in Singapore earlier in the year.

Dutch triple gold medallist to compete in Dubai

October 4, 2011, Dubai – For the uninitiated, Ranomi Kromowidjojo’s may be a tricky name to pronounce but she’ll certainly be one of the swimmers to watch at this weekend’s FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup in Dubai.

The 21-year-old from the Netherlands claimed three gold medals the last time she competed in Dubai, at the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) last December and will be looking to emulate that feat when she returns to the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Sports Complex on Friday.

Six out of six for spectacular South African at FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup

October 8, 2011, Dubai, UAE – South Africa’s Chad le Clos made it six out of six at the FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup last night.

The 19-year-old added a hat-trick of golds to his collection on the second night of competition at the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Sports Complex. The first came in the hotly contested 100m butterfly where he got the better of Russian world record-holder Evgeny Korotyshkin to finish in a time of 50.66 seconds. Korotyshkin had to settle for silver in 51.14 and Kenya’s Jason Dunford bronze in 51.70.
